Why My Favorite Holiday is Easter & My Favorite Easter Song

I remember a friend asking me what was my favorite holiday? I responded Easter to her shock.  Most people especially people that know me would have thought Christmas of course.  It’s true; I love the tradition of Christmas.  The red and green lights, Christmas trees, and finding the perfect gift for each of those special people. It’s like two holidays in one; celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ and the magical tale of old St. Nick.

The birth had to take place in order for the death of Christ.  However, it’s not just that he died but he died for me (and you), to save me because he loves me.  With all the power in his hand, he could have easily came down from the cross and destroyed all those against him but he knew that wasn’t the purpose of his birth.  His purpose was to lead by example and in the end become the ultimate sacrifice for all of our sins. Hallelujah!

Jesus didn’t just suffer and die but the most powerful part of Christ’s existence is he got back up to live again!

Romans 1:4-5
And Jesus Christ our Lord was shown to be the Son of God when God powerfully raised him from the dead by means of the Holy Spirit. Through Christ, God has given us the privilege and authority to tell Gentiles everywhere what God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey him, bringing glory to his name.

I love Easter because he suffered, died, and he was risen from the dead just for me.

This leads me to what has become one of my favorite “Easter songs” and it just so happens to be sung by Mother Mrs. Grace Williams. This song has become my Easter tradition.
