Battle of The Best: Tamar Braxton VS. K. Michelle - She Can Have You

Here is a second installment of the Battle of the Best. Tamar Braxton versus K. Michelle on "She Can Have You" which was first released by Tamar but recorded by K. Michelle three years ago and never released until her Mixtape "Still No Fucks Given".

I love both of these artists but I'm going with K. Michelle she gave it more soul while Tamar made it a lonely Christmas song. Tamar has a larger vocal range (even though she has had struggle vocals as of late) but K. Michelle has an ability to make any song work for her range.

Tell me who you riding with on "She Can Have You"? First Up Tamar Braxton
 Next Up K. Michelle

Battle of The Best: Aretha Franklin VS. Luther Vandross - This Is For Real

I decided to do a Battle of The Best with one song recorded by the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin and the the King of Smooth, Luther Vandross. The song was written by Luther Vandross and he released his version first. Aretha recorded it in the 1980's and I believe it was produced by Luther Vandross. What a great written song and personally I think Aretha tore into it. My vote goes with Aretha but Luther did a fantastic job as well.

Listen to both and you tell me who did it the best! First Up Aretha Franklin Now Luther Vandross

Morning Cup of Soul: Aretha Franklin - A Change Is Gonna Come [LIVE] BET HONORS

Here is live audio of Aretha Franklin at BET Honors 2014. All I can say is Aretha Franklin still sits comfortably on her throne of Soul! She is no doubt the Queen and still putting it down. The BET Honors show was mostly a bore but Aretha, Smokey Robinson and Jennifer Hudson all put the vocals down.

Aretha sung this in tribute to the late Nelson Mandela. About half way through the song every body in the audience was on their feet. The Queen ladies and gentlemen, the Queen!

Morning Cup of Soul: Walter Jackson - Feelings

I've heard many renditions of this song but nobody comes close to the passion or soul of Walter Jackson. Some singers you can say own a song by the way they perform them and for me Walter Jackson owns this song.

New Webisode of "I'm Not An Expert But..."

After a short hiatus, I'm back with a new webisode of "I'm Not An Expert But..." I am talking Superbowl, the investigation regarding the death of Phillip Seymore Hoffman, Blood Sweat and Heels, and crappy Iphone chargers.

I decided to pull a Oprah and sing my intro I sound just as awful as she did!

[NEW MUSIC] American Idol Champ: Candice Glover - Damn

Candice Glover is one of those artist where before I even listen to her new music I want to love it. I'm a big fan of Candice but this song is not something I love. I don't hate it but it's just o.k. Nothing is special about this song. I'm not even sure that it's a single so I won't go into too many details why this is not what I was looking for from Candice.

I really do like the single "Cried" even though it has not been well received on radio. I thought it was a very soulful song. "Damn" is like damn I wish it could have been better. Take a listen and let me know what you think?
